This is the first we have seen this particular cut of labradorite and it is a very appealing shape and size. Easily fits in a pocket and feels good in the hand. We hand picked every one of these discs to ensure that each one has a brilliant "flash" on the majority of at least one side. 

Labradorite is considered to be like a shield and a mirror. It protects us from negative thoughts, feelings, and influences. And it reveals our soul essence, our hidden powers and our gifts. Author Harmony writes that it protects the aura and helps keep one's aura clear, ballances, and free of energy leaks. She says, "The energy of labradorite facilitates the transformation of intuition into intellectual thought such that one can implement the instructions provided. It assists one to traverse changes, attracting strength and perseverence."  

The "flash" of labradorite is called labradorescence and it isn't always immediately apparent. We like this mysterious aspect of the stone. Sometimes it requires spending time rotating and tilting the stone under different light to reveal the hidden shimmer. Also, you'll notice that in some of these photos, the flash only appears on a fraction of the surface of the stone. In these cases, the rest of the surface usually has flash also, but it's revealed at a different angle. 

Labradorescence is often blue or gold, but may also appear in green ranges, red, coppery, and magenta.

These discs are ovals measuring about 1 inch by about 1.5 inches. 

Please note: Crystals are natural products of the Earth. As such, they vary. Some may have internal cracks, small chips, hazy areas, varying colors, "phantom" shapes inside, rainbows (diffraction), and other variations. We have personally chosen and examined every one, and found them all to meet our high personal standards. Often, we find the qualities that would be considered "imperfections" from the standpoint of a jeweler to be exactly what makes a certain crystal especially unique and potent.
