22 years ago, we opened The Dragontree.
I had no idea what I was doing.
Which, honestly, might’ve been an asset… for a little while.
And then I had to learn. Like, really learn.
Every time I made a huge mistake (and there were many), Peter would say:
“Cheaper than an MBA!”
Which was probably true.
Until it wasn’t. ![]()
But here’s what I still believe —
The best way to learn to run a business is to run a business.
And have a really, really good coach.
(That’s what finally gave me the support I needed.)
Over the years, we’ve created so much:
-
Spa treatments at multiple locations that have healed bodies and souls
-
Programs and rituals that changed people’s lives
-
A potent product line infused with intention
-
3 books
-
A yearly planner
-
A coaching certification
-
Retreats, meditations, courses, candles, elixirs...
-
And a few things that barely saw the light of day
(Well Magazine… may you rest in peace.)
It’s always been an emergent field creation —
not some rigid business plan,
but a living, breathing collaboration with Spirit.
And that’s what I love.
That’s what keeps me in it.
About 10 years in, someone said to me:
“You’ve already done your life’s work! That must feel so good.”
And I wanted to throw up in my mouth.
Because if that had been it,
I would’ve felt grief in my bones.
Now I know —
my life’s work was never a single creation.
It’s a becoming.
I am ever evolving.
Ever creating.
And the fact that I get to bring that creative pulse into The Dragontree?
That I get to keep dreaming, keep building, keep loving this into existence?
It’s the greatest gift.
And I could never have done it without the staff,
the clients, the community —
the real magic makers.
Thank you. ![]()
Here’s to 22 years.
And we’re just getting started.
Love,
Briana
